Great news for those
with diabetes!

Hello! I am Dr. Jiyeon Hong, the director of Yon Oriental Medicine Clinic.

While running our Lee Young-ae Gongjindan and Kyungokgo events, I have received a common question from patients: "I have diabetes, is it okay for me to take Gongjindan or Kyungokgo?"

Yes, it is possible. However, please consult with a specialist at an Oriental medicine clinic and get a prescription! I have been wearing a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) for the past month, and I am sharing with you the 'blood sugar changes after taking Gongjindan and Kyungokgo' that I confirmed personally on my own body.

Guidance for Diabetic Patients
Key Point

To give you the conclusion first,
there are no blood sugar spikes.

I have been participating in a 30-day challenge where I consistently take one pill of Wonbang Gongjindan in the morning and one packet of Deer Antler Kyungokgo in the afternoon (I am currently on day 17). In conclusion, Gongjindan and Kyungokgo did not trigger blood sugar spikes on their own.

Since these medicines contain honey, I was a bit worried myself, but there were no significant blood sugar changes unless I took them on an empty stomach and then exercised or consumed other foods. While sensitivity factors can vary from person to person, I do not believe Gongjindan or Kyungokgo themselves act in a way that significantly affects blood sugar levels.

Even so, if you are worried about your blood sugar, try eating a small amount of vegetables like a slice of carrot, a slice of cucumber, or some cabbage before taking Gongjindan or Kyungokgo!

Data Analysis 01

Blood sugar changes after taking Gongjindan

A stable blood sugar curve; there are almost no spikes.

Taking Gongjindan on an empty stomach

On an empty stomach

I took it on an empty stomach around 10 AM on weekdays. Blood sugar changes were stable, forming a gentle curve within a 5-10 point increase even if it rose.

Activity and snack consumption

Activity & Snacks

These are the changes when I was active or ate other snacks after taking it. It only showed an increase between 7 and 16, and there is no risk of a blood sugar spike caused solely by Gongjindan.

Data Analysis 02

Blood sugar changes after taking Kyungokgo

It actually lowered or showed minimal changes.

Taking Kyungokgo alone

Taken alone

I thought Kyungokgo might raise blood sugar more, but it didn't. After taking it, it either decreased or there was almost no change felt if I didn't eat other food.

Before/After dinner with Kyungokgo

Around dinner time

I usually take it on an empty stomach in the evening and eat soon after. When observing for 2 hours after intake, there were only changes of about 7-12, or at most around 20.
